- E3 08: BioShock PS3 to Receive "Challenge Rooms"
- Posted 5 months, 3 weeks ago by Coop
During a meeting with Take-Two today, 2K Games revealed that the PlayStation 3 version of BioShock would have exclusive content, with several "Challenge Rooms" being available for download on day one. The one that was shown off was a carnival, where a Little Sister was stuck at the top of a Ferris Wheel. Below, a lever sparked, disabled. To free her, the player must find ways to electrocute the switch using different tools from BioShock. Using electric ammo, plasmids you find in Cohen's carnival. The carnival actually works, and using the telekinesis plasmid you can play the different games and win prizes.
2K also announced that they would be supporting trophies, and that these Challenge Rooms would award them upon completion. While they will remain separate from the actual game, each of them will be themed like the rest of Rapture. Why make it DLC? Not 100% sure. My guess is that they fear the rental market, and if all the game had was a few extra sections people could play them and return the game. Making it DLC assures that they at least make some money on it, and from the looks of the level they have my money.
The game is due out in October, so look forward to buying another copy of BioShock and downloading this content to hold yourself over until a full sequel.

What are the odds of this eventually being downloadable for 360?
A Challenge mode? Just some added maps? I'd rather have a multiplayer or co-op mode, or something! That'd be much more huge.
