Home Closed Beta Ends in May
Posted 5 months, 1 weeks ago by Coop

A beta tester for Playstation 3 Home program has sent Kotaku an image that apparently states that the Beta period will end in only two months. If this is true and not a doctored image, that would mean that Home will either go into public beta or, hopefully, finally be released.

Odds are there will be a few week break where the developers go deep into the code and smack around some large changes they have wanted to include. After this, the game will likely go into open beta, allowing for anyone with a PS3 and an internet connection to download the game with the possibility of bugs and knowledge that their avatars might be deleted before the full release.

The launch, which has long been rumored to be alongside whatever PSN update brings an in-game XMB, will likely end up coming out, officially, near the beginning of the Summer.

With all of that said, I still couldn’t care less about Home. Until they actually announce something interesting or unique about it that couldn’t be done without it I will still go on record saying it looks like crap. Why walk to a mailbox to send a message when you should be able to just hit a button? Why walk to a movie theatre to watch a video when you could just stream it? It seems redundant.

I hope it compares to the XBL experience.

I'm pretty excited about this. The more I read about it the more it seems different than my initial ideas. Let's see how it turns out.
