Interplay: Coming Soon?
Posted 8 months, 1 weeks ago by Coop

A few years ago, developer Interplay filed for bankruptcy and ceased all game development (as well as paying its rent and employees). The creator of such titles as Fallout and Descent had to sell off some of its best intellectual properties in order to settle some of the lawsuits that resulted from its demise.

Just in the past few days, their website, www.Interplay.com, has updated with the image seen above. It appears that they have finally raised enough money, likely from the sale of the Fallout franchise to Bethesda, to begun anew. If that placeholder image is to be trusted they will be starting with sequels to Earthworm Jim, Baldur’s Gate, Carmageddon, and MDK. This revival of their in-house development team is good news for fans of the company, and hopefully more will come of it in the near future.

I am a huge fan of some of their games and would love to see what they have to offer in this new generation. If I were Interplay I would focus on making some quality Wii titles. Sequels to retro games seem to be selling well enough, and I know a few people who would go crazy for an intense Wii version of Earthworm Jim.

Then again, this may be a phishing scam. Look out, gamers!
