- Metal Gear Solid 4 to Have 90 Minute Cut Scenes
- Posted 7 months, 2 weeks ago by Coop
CVG is reporting that Metal Gear Solid 4 has long cut scenes. Really, really, really long. Longer than some movies long. Kojima has stated that some of the cut-scenes approach 90 minutes in length, and cut-scenes is supposed to be plural. That means there will be times, in the middle of Metal Gear Solid 4, where you can confidently leave your system, go get a bite to eat, mow the lawn, and come back with Hideo Kojima still stroking his own ego. The MGS series is known for lengthy cinematic interplayed with a section or two of gameplay, but this is even crazy by their standards.
I think that this probably ties in to the earlier rumors of the game having a “feature length cinematic opening,” and if this is the case I can’t be too upset. MGS4 is supposed to be the end of the Snake series of the Metal Gear games, a series that has been going on since the original NES. If that means having a lengthy retrospective of the series to set up his swan song than so be it, as long as it doesn’t end up being as confusing as Metal Gear Solid 2. There is also the chance that this 90 minute cut-scene is going to play over the 90 minutes of installation that will precede even playing MGS4, that would be a nice way to cover up their bad design and inability to get their game to fit onto a blu-ray disk. Oh yeah, I went there.

I'll bring the popcorn....
90 minute scenes of nonsensical, melodramatic foolishness about what Japan thinks a military is? Count me in! No, seriously, count me in. I love this goofy stuff.
