- Portal 2 Announced
- Posted 10 months, 2 weeks ago by Coop
It seems that all of our rallying, reviews, and fandom has finally paid off. The video above can serve, for all intents and purposes, as an official announcement of Portal 2. In the video, lead designer of the original, Kim Swift, states that head honcho at Valve, Doug Lombardi, had confirmed Portal 2 earlier in the show.
Guess what Kim!? He didn’t, you did!
Either way, this news is barely news, as knowing Portal 2 is coming out is information that anyone who has ever touched a game controller could tell you. Valve has constantly dropped hints and has even said that the gaming community’s response would dictate the future for Portal. Our response couldn’t have been much more raving, so I guess we made the choice easy for them.
It looks like Portal is well on its way to stealing all of the GDC news. First they win three awards at the GDC award show for innovation, game design, and the coveted title of Game of the Year. Second, Harmonix formally announces “Still Alive” as eventual downloadable content for Rock Band (it better not be before I get back my RROD box). And now a sequel is confirmed to be in development. Who would have thought that a title put together by a bunch of DigiPen students would steal the Game Developers Conference 4 months after its release?
