- PS3 Firmware v2.10 Hits Tomorrow
- Posted About 1 year ago by Coop

Tomorrow, Sony fans will be able to do slightly more then they could today with the PS3. Being able to change your voice in the barren wasteland that is the PS3 Online game scene and some DivX support are added to the list of changes that are not as important as an in-game XMB, but hey - it's a media player too, right?
PS3 Firmware v2.10 features:
- Voice changer
The Voice Changer feature has been added to voice / video chat.
Using this feature, you can change the tone of a voice that is input from an audio device such as a microphone. High and low-pitched tones can each be adjusted to five preset levels. You can vary the tone when using voice / video chat under Friends.
- You can now select [Type 3] as an option under Settings > [Music Settings] > [Bitmapping]. This bitmapping process was developed specifically for the PS3TM system to enhance audio playback.
- DivX and VC-1 (WMV) have been added to the types of files that can be played.
- Blu-ray Disc Profile 1.1 is now supported.
Being able to access the friends list and playlist while in game are a must for the system. Companies like Square that are complaining about Sony pushing the system as a media player instead of a game console now have more ammunition. Good move!

"barren wasteland that is the PS3 Online game scene"
clearly someone hasn't played CoD4 or UT3 online.
would be nice to have in-game XMB. But having divex support is kind of cool
O cool, we get a voice changer too! and as expected no in-game XMB. The more I play online the more I miss it.
DiVX! DiVX! DiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiVX! I'm so happy, no more converting all of the movies I make personal archives of from legitimately purchased DVDs.
i am pretty excited about the connectivity they are having between the PSP and PS3. if i ever get a PS3 i'll be sure to abuse connectivity.
Then walks outside to some cool music while the building explodes.
i hope sony says something like, "we don't do gaming. gaming does us."
