- Rocketmen: It Came from Uranus
- Posted 4 months, 1 weeks ago by Doctor Scraps
There are a lot of good things about the game Rocketmen: Axis of Evil...it's quirky characters, the explosive space action, arsenal of weapons, all that...however, amongst it was some pretty grim portions of grisel along with the meat, if I may use that analogy...
It Came From Uranus is a three level expansion, along with three new primary weapons, and a few secondary weapons. And for once, the secondary weapons seemed more useful than the new Beamer, Blobber...and whatever that little fireball gun was called. I say this because...until you upgrade them a little, the rate of fire is just embarassing.
Spoot!...Spoot!...Spoot! you get the idea.
It made me cry with joy when it gave me a vulcan or a laser canon, however now the game had a habit of switching the weapon pickups every few seconds. Finally, I just started putting all my points into the Blobber by the end of it because that's what I was always stuck with it seemed.
The second level takes places in an asteroid field...and it is simply the Mars City level without the city backgrounds and rocks flying everywhere. And just like the Mars City level, it is pointlessly long...just wave after wave of enemies, you could probably just stay in one place on the screen and pick enemies off with the right stick and you'd be alright.
Finally, I'm starting to get tired of the lack of appreciation the character gets. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be funny, but c'mon man...give the guy a little credit. It feels more and more like you're the more skilled sidekick who does all the work for the heroes instead of the actual hero. Hopefully future expansions will have more meat and not so much drag.
I give it a 5.
