Well, looks like our dream has been shattered. It's not really surprising that it was a Diablo III announcement considering it's popularity. I find it funny how the splash pages transitioned to the final image. "Ooo, look at all the ice, crazy runes, and Death Knight eyes...Psych! Diablo III!"

Found some more info. The last rune is found in Uldaman in WoW, which is where you'll find NPC's named after the Lost Vikings. Dun, Dun, Dun!

Well, the secret Blizzard picture is complete, and just like everyone thought, it's a purple penguin. The last number confirms the use of the LOST numbers. On Kotaku, they have pics comparing a Protoss and Death Knight to the Blizzard splash screen to figure out the eyes. So the most logical deduction is that it's release dates for either Starcraft 2 or WOTLK.

That would be boring, so let's take a moment to be illogical. If you look carefully, it shows something between the eyes that doesn't look like it's either of those. You know what I think? It's indeed a person wearing a helmet...A VIKING HELMET THAT IS! That and the LOST numbers makes it true!
