WDYTW Late Edition: Would You Buy Xbox Lips?
Posted 4 months ago by Dominic

If you followed the E3 coverage over the past couple days then you're probably aware that the NeoGAF rumors came true, including Lips.  Microsoft unveiled this new 360 app during the confrence with this trailer:

Oh and grats on putting the catchiest song ever in the trailer.  Sorry if it plays over and over in your head for the rest of the day.

So another karaoke game comes to home consoles, but what makes this one so different?  Users can import DRM-free songs from their iPod or Zune into Lips.  This is a really cool feature seeing as karaoke DJs don't always have every song you wanna sing.

I have to admit, I'm a karaoke dork.  I go to karaoke, have a couple beers, belt out some sweet tunes, then go home smelling like cigarettes.  It's a good time, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.  There are some that are just too shy to try it...and some that just hate it.

Will you be picking up Lips?  If so, what songs would you import?  And do you hope that somehow you'll be able to use those songs you downloaded illegally in Lips like myself?  What do you think?

Throw some Linkin Park in there, too, and you've got me hooked!

I love karaoke to death but I'm not sure I'd like to simulate it at my house... or even a friends' house, for that matter. I like the surroundings of a bar crowd cheering you on when you sing either a good song or a song that nobody sings. (Tenacious D - F*** Her Gently is one of my good songs along with NIN- Closer and The Darkness- I Believe In A Thing Called Love.)

The fact that the mic lights up is pretty badass. I'm still not a karaoke fan though....

Just the fact that the mic lights up is bad ass

My main beef with games like this is the set list. I'm really nitpicky about my music.
Ask Steak.

Now that you can add your own music, that does give it more appeal. I'll think about it, but only if it works with the Rockband 2 mic.

The last time I went to a karaoke bar, my friends and I were told not to come back. Apparently, my friend got into an altercation with a bouncer for some reason. This looks more safe =P
