- What Do You Think Wednesdays: Diablo 3 Character Classes
- Posted About 1 month ago by Dominic
So here we are just a few days after Diablo 3 has been announced. There's been a bit of information released about the game, but not all of the character classes have been revealed. The only officially announced character classes are the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor. Blizzard has confirmed a total of five character classes leaving us with three to speculate on.
Who else should return to the world of Diablo? Druid? Sorcerer? Necromancer? It'd seem a little unfair for Blizzard to leave out the fan favorite Necromancer, though it seems like he's been replaced with the Witch Doctor. Blizzard has said that the Witch Doctor isn't necessarily a subsitute for the Necro...but you can't do corpse explosion without corpses. Things aren't lookin' too bright.
What classes from other Blizzard titles should make the jump to Diablo? Shaman? Hunter? Or perhaps a true healer class? Blizzard has said that Diablo 3 is going to be heavy on the co-op aspect so will we need a designated healer? What do you think?

I think Witchdoctor takes the place of the Necromancer and the fire tree from Sorceress. My guess is a Storm Priest that concentrates on water, cold, lightning magic to fill the other half of the sorceress. They might also combine that with Amazon and have them launch Zeus-like javelin bolts.
But wait! AMAZONS are exclusively WOMEN and we've been told that male and female avatars will be optional for all classes! Perhaps we'll see it converted to an Archer or generic Warrior.
They might also add Assassin-like features to the Archer, like charges and finishing moves.
So Barbarian, Witch-Doctor, Storm Priest, Paladin, Archer
Whatever they come up with, it will be good.
I'm going to trust Blizzard again.
The inclusion of God of War-like energy replenishing orbs leads me to believe that a healing class would be even more useless that it would have been in Diablo II.
All classes should be rooted in action.
Man, they better not drop the Paladin. He kicks ass! I'm sure we'll all see our favorites in some form or another, though. I hope to see at least one entirely new class, though.
Based on the video, I think the new red orbs heal everyone in the party, so I don't think they will need a dedicated healer class. Maybe there will be a class that can give out buffs though (other than the Paladin auras). I really don't know what to expect!
Witchdoctor, Barbarian, Sorc, Amazon, Druid?
Man, a Fluffer/Barb combo would be crazy. With infinite mana, he can go all night!
Man Pandas would be sweet, but I don't know if that fits the mood of Diablo.
And yeah C-Dew those original classes were updated and slightly renamed in the sequel.
Oh and I heard Face puncher/Fluffer combo is epic. You can get mad ears that way.
D1 - Sorceror, Warrior, Rogue
D2 - Sorceress, Paladin, Amazon
those classes are al bassicly the same classes throught the last two games
mainly jsut redone and renamed
maybe those three but changed around a bit
or another new class and jsut two of those
Ninja, pirate, cowboy, werewolf, farmhand, hairdresser, dancing queen, Barbara Streisand impersonator, face puncher, and fluffer.
I don't think they'll have a healer class. It won't feel like Diablo if they did. Plus, there will be healing red orbs that will be common drops from enemies to encourage players to attack instead of running and using pots.
I'm gonna go with Johpin and say that there are going to be a fair amount of new classes in this game. Maybe one return, which I will say is the Amazon.
Necro is gone, son! Sad to say :(
I'm guessing everyone else except the necromancer. I was a Bear Druid in D2, so hopefully that class comes back. I mentioned this before, doesn't that picture on the Character classes link look like a Pandaren? I'm not really sure, it's a small picture. As for classes from another game, I'll say it here first...VIKING!
