- What Are You Playing This Week?
- Posted About 1 month ago by Sarah
After a few slow weeks in my own personal realm of gaming, I’m back to having too many games to play and too little time to play them. My DS, PS2, Wii, and 360 are all getting plenty of action this week. I was also hoping to get in another afternoon of Dungeons & Dragons, but trouble at Gamervision HQ put our weekly game on hold. Curses!
Anyway, despite spending the weekend in Jersey at my parents’ house, I managed to get some time in on Atlus’s Operation Darkness for the 360 and Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 on the DS. Yes, it’s a double dose of Atlus for me this week. Operation Darkness is a strategy RPG set during the WWII era with plenty of supernatural elements thrown in. It’s pretty cool and I’m having fun with it, but the game also comes with some serious flaws that can’t be overlooked.
Trauma Center, meanwhile, is pretty much exactly what you would expect from a new game in the medical series: more operations, weird fictional diseases, melodrama, and silly dialogue. It’s just as addictive as the first DS game, but despite a few tweaks, the formula has not been changed too much. Expect full reviews of both games on Gamervision this week.
I’m also looking forward to new release Civilization Revolution, which I’ll be picking up on the 360 this week. I’ve never played any of the Civ games on PC, but I got a chance to play this one at New York Comic Con back in April, and I can already tell it’s going to suck me right in.
When I’m not playing those newer releases, I’ll be making my way through Final Fantasy X, which I recently started playing again. I’m near the end of the game, story-wise, but pursuit of side quests and optional aeons is probably going to lengthen the experience for me. I had forgotten how many heart-wrenching moments there were in this game. Usually Final Fantasy VII is the one that is remembered for a certain tragic incident, but FFX is just jam-packed with depressing undertones.
In less somber news, I’m still doing daily Wii Fit workouts, although I did miss a couple of days this weekend while I was out of state. And let me tell you, the game was really not thrilled with me about that. As soon as I turned it back on when I got home last night, it was all, “You haven’t been on in three days! WTF, fatso?” Okay, maybe that’s not word-for-word, but you get the idea.
After a brief hiatus, I think Rock Band will be broken out again as well. It’s been too long, and with all of the anticipation for Rock Band 2, I’ve got to pick it up once again. I don’t want to be out of practice, after all. It’s time to piss off the neighbors with all the drumming, singing, and cheering. Rock!

I FINALLY GOT A WII!! So, Zelda of course.
I just picked up Gears of War (late to the party, I know), and I'll be playing more Halo 3. More FFTA2 as well I'm sure!
Actually started playing Super Stardust HD for the first time since I downloaded it. Don't know why, but I'm addicted. I challenge anyone on here to beat my score!
actual golf? Damn I'm jealous. I haven't played in over a year. MLB 08, Out of the Park 9 (baseball management sim), Hot Shots and Civ: Revolution are keeping me busy this week.
GH: Aerosmith, Drake's Fortune, Hot Shots PSP, Crisis Core (still) and actual golf.
When can we expect a review on Operation Darkness... (I know IGN gave it 2.5, but I usually don't trust most reviews out there when it comes to Niche market games) Though I'm still not sure I want to shell out 60$ for it.
Trauma Center Under the Knife 2, Burnout Paradise, Unreal Tournament 3, Tales of Symphonia 2, and Steak wants me to play some Co-op Gears with him. The Summer gaming drought doesn't seem so bad.
