Earn Fable II Moneys Before the Game Launches
Posted 3 months ago by Sarah

Pretty much every video game you can think of nowadays has some form of currency, be it gil, gold, dineros, or what have you, and getting more of it is key to survival. Without money, how are you going to upgrade your weapons, buy healing items, or teach your dog new tricks? Fable II, due out this October (YAY!), is one step ahead of the game, letting players earn in-game gold before the title even launches. That way, once Fable II finally comes out, you’re already good to go.

Oh, but Peter Molyneux is not just giving away free money out of the kindness of his heart, mind you. No, the cash has to be obtained the old-fashioned way: earning it. In this case, gamers can earn Fable II currency by playing a series of minigames called Fable II Pub Games, which will be available from the Xbox Live Marketplace for a mere 800 Microsoft Points (ten bucks). That seems a little hefty considering we’re already paying $60 for the game itself ($70 if you’re like me and reserved the collector’s edition). The good news is, you can obtain the games for free simply by reserving the game, so I recommend you do that rather than spend any extra money.

Since I pre-ordered Fable II months ago and am thereby entitled to some free Pub Games, I will probably check them out. However, I’m still not sure how I feel about this whole deal. I definitely wouldn’t pay for a bunch of minigames that should probably just be in the game to begin with (like the various gambling activities in the first Fable), and earning money before the game comes out almost feels like cheating, somehow. Also, if the Pub Games take place outside the realm of Fable II, I probably can’t murder the dealer and all of the other players if I lose a bunch of money, like in the first game. That kind of defeats the whole point.
