Gamecock Endorses Stephen Colbert For President
Posted About 1 year ago by Sarah

Video game publisher Gamecock Media Group announced today that the company would be endorsing Stephen Colbert for President of the United States. Colbert, the Emmy-award-winning host of The Colbert Report, already attempted a run in the state of South Carolina and was denied a spot on the ballot; he dropped out of the race immediately after.

Gamecock, however, is not willing to accept what they have called a “South Carolina Setback”, and instead are encouraging Colbert to run again, this time in Texas. The publisher, which is based in Austin, is offering him their offices as campaign headquarters.

Gamecock CEO Mike Wilson had this to say about the endorsement:

“After conducting extensive polling and scrutinizing all the candidates’ stances on various issues, we came to the conclusion that Stephen Colbert has shown strong leadership and best represents the interests of the videogame playing community.”

Tired of politicians demonizing video games for short-term gain, Gamecock has boldly offered to help Colbert in his political bid. They are also getting into the political spirit by encouraging gamers to check out their upcoming party game, Hail to the Chimp, which has animals fighting to be the ruler of the animal kingdom.

In response to the fact that Gamecock will not be making any attempt to mobilize voting-age gamers, Gamecock President Harry Miller responded:

“I wish the best for Mr. Colbert, but what do we look like, political strategists?”

I have never thought Colbert was funny. Everything that he's done (Daily Show, Colbert Report, his new book) always comes across to me as a guy trying too hard.

He won't do it. He doesn't want to win nor does he think he should, hell he probably doesn't even want to run. This makes it less funny to me. Plus he's off the air now because of the writers strike, haha.
