It’s been more than a week since the Grand Theft Auto IV launch, but news about the game is still unavoidable. Although Grand Theft Auto IV sales appear to be holding up pretty well on the PS3, almost everyone I know, myself included, picked up the game on the 360. There were probably numerous factors that went into this decision, but let’s face it: we all love getting achievements. Even for people who aren’t achievement whores, there is something so satisfying about earning Gamerpoints for your accomplishments.



I know I unlocked a few achievements during my first few hours driving through Liberty City, and surely I’m not the only one. In fact, according to Microsoft, over two million achievements were unlocked during the first 24 hours the game was available. That’s over 15 million Gamerpoints! That’s a really impressive figure for just the first day. Then again, with GTA IV breaking all kinds of records, I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised.
