- World of Warcraft Expansion Breaks Sales Records
- Posted About 1 month ago by Sarah

When the new World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, was released earlier this week, I experienced one of those moments when I was really glad I didn’t work at GameStop anymore. I remember how it was when the last expansion released, the pins, patches, and other memorabilia that was sent to the store, as well as the crazed WoW players coming in and shouting things like “Seven million strong!” Well, Wrath of the Lich King has put the previous expansion, The Burning Crusade, to shame, selling more than 2.8 million copies in the first 24 hours of availability.
According to the press release, Wrath of the Lich King is now the fastest-selling PC game of all time, as well as already being the top-selling PC game of 2008 at GameStop. I can’t say that I’m terribly surprised, because I know how much WoW players crave new expansions, but those are still some impressive numbers. Blizzard Entertainment CEO Mike Morhaime was thrilled by the support, stating, “Wrath of the Lich King contains some of the best content we’ve created for the game so far, and we look forward to seeing even more players log in to experience it in the days ahead.” I’m guessing he’s looking forward to seeing even more cash roll in, too.

Well there go half of my friendships again. I was just getting back some time with my friends who play WoW, and now its back into their mom's basements for 3 years.
I hate this game....
Hot Pockets stocks go sky high as a result.
Oh...My...God!!!
This news even makes me want to lose even more time with the real world. Just too bad I have too many other things, and a real life, going on to consume my time already.
