- Haiku Contest Winners Announced
- Posted 3 months, 1 weeks ago by Sean
A few weeks back we announced a contest of Zen-like proportions. A contest that would call upon the deepest, most lyrical parts of any or all of you. A contest that asked you one simple question: What does gaming mean to me? The challenge was to make your answer in the form of a poem- specifically a haiku. Seventeen syllables, spaced over three lines, in a set format.
The entries we received ranged from the transcendent, to the surreal, to the downright bizarre. Not all of you stuck religiously to the format, and that's okay. It's poetry. Who are we to impose our "rules" and our "judgment" on you?
So now, without further delay, I present to you the winning poet and his mind's opus on gaming:
So congratulations to JackBauer936 and his winning submission! He's scored himself the Razer DeathAdder 3G Infared Gaming Mouse, the Squishable, and a Gamervision T-shirt.
Second prize, consisting of the Plantronics Gaming Headset and a Gamervision T-shirt goes to WiNG and this haunting lryic:
The trap has been laid.
I laugh; They suspect nothing.
My switchblade says "hi."
And our third prize winner, taking home both the Gamervision hoodie and the Gamervision t-shirt is TinyChinaDoll and her haiku:
3 in the morning
replaying the same mission
shit i died again.
Five people set themselves apart for the honorable mention category, and have each snagged themselves a Gamervision t-shirt. They are:
Juno_ilix, and her "classic" 7-5-7 entry:
Mushrooms, barrels, stars, space ships
Eyes glaze and thumbs twitch
Warlocks, bombs, grand lore, great myths
Jake came in with this honorable haiku:
Just one more level...
Ding! SWEET! Now I get to do
Hours more grinding...
Gamebend brought this to the table, and walked away with a shirt:
The Mood is Intense,
Control Your Mouse and Keyboard,
Quick Reflex is Key
ChaoticInfinityX came up with this gem of an honorable mention:
It took 19 hours,
but I beat MGS4...
What an EPIC game!!!
---
I have seen it all...
Questions have all been answered.
Don't want to spoil it.
---
If you don't have one...
Buy a PS3 right now...
and GO BUY THIS GAME!!!
And we just had to give a shirt to Puxel for the entry that clearly exemplified the Zen mindset that haiku is all about:
Clack Clack Clack. Clack Clack.
Clack. Clack Clack Clack Clack Clack Clack?
Clack Clack, Clack Clack Clack!
Thanks to all the entrants for pouring their hearts and souls out on the webs for everyone to read. It is nice to see that gaming means so many things to so many different people. Special congratulations to all the winners!
