- Insomniac Games to Open North Carolina Studio

Insomniac Games, publishers of Resistance: Fall of Man, some of the Ratchet and Clank titles, as well as the upcoming Resistance 2 has announced plans to open a new development studio in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. According to Insomniac CEO Ted Price, the new studio, scheduled to open in January 2009, aims to focus on "developing both current and new intellectual property."
Insomniac is filling the ranks of the new facility by promoting from within; naming their veteran Art Director Chad Dezern as the studio's director and Resistance 2's Lead Programmer Shaun McCabe as production director.
According to Price, the move was done to "allow Insomniac to keep [their] size at a level [they] like in Burbank, while also giving [them] an opportunity to grow and attract some of the top talent that resides on the East Coast."
And the best part is, they're hiring! That's right, they are looking for good people to fill out the team. If you think you have what it takes to be an Insomniac or are just curious about what they're looking for, send an e-mail to info@insomniacgames.com.
As a Philly native, I love to see stories about game companies recoginzing the East Coast as a legitimate gaming area. And in the era of mass outsourcing, it's encouraging to see companies are still willing to take a chance on the American workforce.
