 On Monday, as the rumors flew around the internet that GamePro had an upcoming look at “Gears of War 2”, my excitement reached a new high. The pictures showed the cover of an upcoming issue, and right there was the GOW logo, with a big old “2” right next to it. I could barely contain contain my excitement, to the point that I had to actually shout, “ GEARS OFWAR 2! GAMEPRO MAGAZINE COVER!” in the office to make sure everyone understood how big this was. But some in the office were a bit more skeptical.

 The first thing that stood out to Veggie Jackson was: If Gears of War 2 was announced and they did have an exclusive look, why would the cover art consist of a RB6 Vegas shot, and not one of Gears of War 2. This was the first big clue clue that someone, somewhere, was messing with us. The second clue was that there was no mention of ant gears news in the magazine’s previous edition. So, after we put two and two together, we’d come to the assumption that we were being scammed. I felt hurt, I felt cheated. Was this someone’s idea of a joke?




 Well the truth has finally seen the light of day, as Epic has stepped in to say the rumor is nothing but a bunch of lies. On his personal blog, Mark Rein, CEO of Epic Games, called the story of the magazine’s exclusive “complete nonsense”. Mr. Reins goes on to write that neither he, nor anyone else, even announced a sequel to Gears of War.


 Although we will inevitably see a sequel in the Gears series; the question still remains: WHEN?! Personally, I am not cray about all the secrecy from the developer, but I guess I should by used to it by now. But what’s up with people messing around with GamePro’s covers? That’s just not cool.
