Did you hear about the new Phenom in the Philadelphia Flyers Organization? It is hard to believe he was selling Title Insurance before he tried out with the Phantoms. I am talking about Michael Boscaino. In 32 games with the phantoms, he had 41 goals and 13 assists with a +- of 26 and was immediately sent up to the Flyers where he plays on the second line with Mike Knuble and Danny Brier. As a Flyer he has scored 56 goals and 29 assists with a +- of 48 in 48 games including the playoffs. Accompany that with 882 hits and 156 PIM’s, it won’t shock you talks have already begun about a long term contract to nail this guy down.
The only downside is his turnovers of 7.47 per game but the 2.69 per game take aways and 31 game winning goals more that cancels out this 6 foot 225 pound scoring machines short lost of flaws. In a recent interview with Pittsburgh’s goalie, Marc Andre Fleury, was quoting saying, “He has the meanest wrist shot I have ever seen…. You just don’t see it coming…”.
When Boscaino moved up, The Flyers were in 7th place and in danger of losing their playoff spot. They finished the season in 1st beating out the penguins. Boscaino had the game wining wrist shot hoisting himself and The Flyers to The Stanley Cup Finals where they lead The Vancouver Canucks 2 – 0.
