- First Screens From Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Posted 3 months, 1 weeks ago by Veggie Jackson
A couple days ago, we reported on Game Informer’s reveal of a new Batman title called Batman: Arkham Asylum. Described as a Bioshock-inspired adventure through Gotham City’s infamous home for the criminally insane, the game had pretty much everyone in the office flipping out at the prospect of lurking through dank, filthy hallways in search of the Dark Knight’s greatest foes. As excited as we all were, no one expected to see much more info at least until the magazine came out. The developer, Rocksteady Studios, surprised us all, however, by unleashing 16 images from the game. Take a look.

I’ll give you a second to pick up your jaws. Ready? Good. Okay, so the pics look awesome so far. Of course, we have no idea if these are in-game graphics, cut-scenes, bullshots, or what have you, but as far as character design and tone are concerned, this is exactly what I wanted to see from this game. It’s gritty, nasty, dark, and everything looks like it’s been polished with a used diaper (I mean that in a good way). This sure as hell ain’t Adam West and Burt Ward. I hate to nitpick (I actually LOVE to nitpick), but isn’t Killer Croc a bit on the large side? Either they made him 18 feet tall, or Batman is in a different, far away room. Regardless, these shots fill me with confidence. Now we wait to see what the Dark Knight game will look like. I bet it’s dark, too.

The images look pretty badass, although it might be just me,but Batman looks a little old.The Joker looks just like a demented sycho. He reminds me of Jack Nicholson rather than Heath Ledger though.
A little too dark, even for a Batman based game.
Can't wait to play it anyway!
Looks like he is on a ramp going down
Platform or not, Croc is about twenty feet too big here.
This actually looks to be a game in the vein of the Christopher Nolan's Batman. I.E. What a batman game/movie should look like. I think Croc is on a platform above Bats, though, that's why he looks so large. The only thing I have to ask: is it just me or do some of those screens look like 'Batman vs. Riddick'? Cuz that would just be badass.
As I said on the other post, I just hope that it doesn't wind up in the shadows of with other comic book games.
Looks so damn good! All but Croc's size, that's a little much.
Game looks good. Let's hope it plays half as well.
