- GTA IV Freezing Issues

As expected, we at Gamervision have been playing GTA IV since about 12:01 AM, so we’re getting a pretty good amount of exposure to it already. Among the things we’ve seen so far; Nico flying headlong through a windshield into the ocean, random bum-fights on the beach, REALLY diligent cops, bad Russian stereotypes and some of the best looking car-vs.-human accidents ever. Something else we’ve seen; game freezes.
Apparently, it’s something that a good amount of people are seeing, causing some concern over the game’s overall stability. To say that message boards are swamped with complaints about game freezes would be overstating it, but there have been a significant amount of complaints. Most of them cite game freezes during the game’s intro (a shame, because the intro is excellent,) but we actually experienced it while driving. Twice. Both times, the problem resolved itself within a minute, so they didn’t necessitate a restart, but it was annoying. Certainly better than some people, who’ve reported freezes so bad they necessitated unplugging their Xbox 360s and PS3s.
Rockstar has acknowledged the issue, but have no answers as of yet. The issue seems to be popping up on 60 Gb versions of the PS3 and any version of the Xbox 360. No known fixes, no known causes, not much known at all. A Rockstar representative did say "I feel terrible about this."
We’ll be covering GTA IV all day, giving first impressions, breaking any news that comes out, and generally living in Liberty City for the next few days, so stick with us for all the update you can handle.

Mine has frozen twice or rather slowed down dramatically but only for a few seconds. Looks crappy but I'm sure I patch is forthcoming.
I got it but minor not major like these other people maybe to much stuff on screen or something
I played it for a solid two hours and I havent had a problem with it so far. hope it stays that way. O BTW, THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!
works fine for me anyway ;) Online is a blast
Even more reason for me NOT to buy the game yet. Thanks, Rockstar, for saving me $60... at least for now...
got mine at 12pm second in line at gamestop got a 15 buck game card because of that. I have not seen this and I have a 60gig hopefully they patch it though

Rockstar loves their patches. Hopefully this doesn't happen to me....
! if this happens to me, im going to cry. alot.
Anyways, I think this is to be expected for a new release of this magnitude. As these consoles get closer to the level of PC's, you're going to see this type of stuff more frequently. Plus, downloadable content allows them to simple push a game out and patch it later.
I would like to offer a warm welcome to all the console-only gamers who are now feeling the pain us PC gamers have endured our entire lives :D
