House of the Dead: Overkill Collector's Edition Revealed
Posted About 1 month ago by Veggie Jackson

You know what the gaming world needs?  A chance to kill some zombies.  Sure, there’s Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3, The Last Man, Dead Rising, and Little Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQ, along with mini-game modes in Call of Duty World at War, World of Warcraft and Saints Row 2, but other than that, what options do we really have when it comes to slaughtering the undead?  Well, fret not, brain containers, because some time early next year, Wii owners will have access to Sega’s zombie-plagued shooter, House of the Dead: Overkill.

To make all this infested fun even better, Sega has announced details about the collector’s edition of the game.  This "Adults Only" edition will be available by pre-order, and will include the graphic novel prequel to the game, Prelude to an OVERKILL, which looks to have been drawn by a slightly defective clone of Frank Miller.  The book has a really nice cover, though, featuring main characters Isaac Washington and Varla Guns, and a pseudo-silver age design.  Sadly, as one of the pics shows, the comic will fit in the Wii game case, meaning it can’t be any bigger than 4 ½” by 7”.  I don’t know about you, but to me, comics that are smaller than standard size are just this side of unreadable.  On the plus side, however, the book seems to have undergone a convincing aging effect, making it look (at least in these pics) like it’s an actual old comic from the sixties, so that’s cool.  Check out the pictures below, and the press release below that.

ADULTS-ONLY COLLECTOR’S EDITION AVAILABLE FOR
THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: OVERKILL PRE-ORDERS

Includes “Prelude to an OVERKILL” Graphic Novel

LONDON (20th November, 2008) – SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced the red hot Collector’s Edition for The House of the Dead: OVERKILL™ for release in PAL territories. This premium edition of The House of the Dead: OVERKILL arrives encased in an exclusive collector’s slipcase and is accompanied by an exclusive graphic novel. It will only be available through selected retailers as a pre-order bonus.

“Prelude to an OVERKILL” tells the fateful stories of Agent Washington and Varla Gunns, on the night before the violent and shocking events of the game. Illustrated by Steve Copter, of dissident punk band ‘Black Mekon’ (www.myspace.com/blackmekon), this specially-commissioned comic is only available in The House of the Dead: OVERKILL Collector’s Edition.

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL puts players in the shoes of Special Agent G and Detective Washington. Whilst mowing down waves of infected blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive Bayou City, gamers uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of the House of the Dead.

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will be released in February 2009, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii™

It's a tumor. You know, in Hellboy II: The Golden Army, when they think that there's a baby attached to that one guy and it's just a sentient tumor? Anyone know what I'm talking about?
