Animaniacs: Splat Ball combines those Warner Brothers cartoon characters with the game of paintball to create a combination suitable for kids (and adults) of all ages. It's Yakko, Wakko, and Dot against the bad guys' team composed of Ralph the security guard, Dr. Scratchansniff, and Thaddeus J. Plotz.
Covering three playing fields and 72 levels of action, the goal of the game is similar to capture the flag: get the other team's balloon and return it to your camp without getting splatted. If you can master all three leagues (amateur, professional, and all-star), you'll be the sultan of splat ball.
There are two types of players on your team: the striker, who shoots the splat balls, and the patrollers, who monitor the perimeter of the playing field and try to protect the striker. Depending on how you want to play, you can set the controls on Yakko, Wakko, or Dot style.
You can only control the striker as you play, although you can change which character takes that job. The other two players on your team are computer-controlled patrollers. It takes a certain number of splats to completely cover a character with paint, in which case he or she must hit the showers before returning to the action. You can force a player to go to the showers early if you know they're one or two splats away from going there anyway.
During the game there are plenty of power-ups to grab such as those which guide the paintballs or fire multiple shots at a time. After each game you earn points; to win a league you need to accumulate 50 of them, but if you switch to an easier difficulty midway through, you'll lose the points you earned at the harder difficulty. Winning a level requires bringing the opponent's balloon to your base four times.
Up to six players can take part in the action over a LAN or at the MSN Gaming Zone on the Internet. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
