Blitzkrieg: Total Challenge promotes the notion that all is fair in (love and) war games, rewarding players for surprise tactics and the commandeering of enemy equipment. The game is designed such that overall, troops are most formidable when they are on the attack, maintaining an "offensive momentum." Set during World War II and featuring Soviet, German, and Allied forces, the game's missions steer players through some of the historic conflict's most famous battles, in Africa, Russia, and Europe.

Players become more powerful commanders, and may gain access to new technology, as they successfully progress through the game. The warfare of Blitzkrieg plays out in destructible, three-dimensional landscapes, for realistic movement and line-of-sight effects. Over 250 buildings, 200 vehicles, and 40 different types of infantry are featured, all inspired by the era. Multiplayer battles are supported over a local area network or the Internet. ~ T.J.
