Snowboarding makes its Game Boy Color debut with Boarder Zone, which features four playable characters and an assortment of board options. Navigate courses filled with trees, signs, and small and larger hills that are good for grabbing serious air. The two chief goals in Boarder Zone are speed and tricks. Some levels require you to race against computer-controlled opponents or the clock, weaving in and out of the flags or signs in an attempt to be the quickest boarder down the mountain. Other levels are purely for the joy of catching big air and performing the most tricks possible.
There are two primary modes, each with its own method of play. "Competition" has you challenging computer-controlled opponents in several events, including Race Attack, Trick Attack, Time Attack, and Boarder Zone (a combination of the three). In "Challenge," you'll find yourself trying to break old records in a pure test of single-player snowboarding skill. In addition to Trick Attack and Time Attack, this mode also features a Slalom Attack where players navigate a course filled with blue and red flags. There is also a practice mode and a password feature to save progress. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
