Charlie Blast's Territory has you playing the role of a blue-collar demolition expert named Charlie as he sets out to obliterate each island he happens to find himself on. Since each level is filled with a number of bombs, detonators, TNT crates and more, Charlie will have to figure out a way to take out the whole kit and caboodle in one explosive chain reaction. Clear the level and Charlie Blast will advance to the next stage until he overcomes all 60 puzzles forming the single-player Puzzle Mode.
Each level offers a number of different objects and items Charlie will have to deal with in order to set off chain reactions. For example, there are three types of bombs available in the game that all differ in the amount of squares they can clear once detonated. Bombs marked with the #1 symbol can only take out the squares they're resting on, while #2 bombs can clear four adjacent squares in a cross-shaped pattern. The third bomb (#3) can eliminate twelve surrounding squares in addition to the square it rests on.
The game also offers two types of multiplayer contests: Survival Mode and Territory Mode. Survival Mode has up to four players trying to acquire as much area (squares on the playing field) as possible by arranging bombs, detonators and objects. If a player should get caught in a bomb's explosion, he or she is out of the game until the next round. The winner is the person with the most territory at the end of the match. Territory Mode is structured exactly the same as the Survival Mode, only players can immediately return to the game after getting caught in a blast zone. Both multiplayer games begin with five boards to play on, but players can access new boards every time they clear ten stages in the Puzzle Mode. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
