High-def sports car racing shifts from fiction to reality and back in Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition. Based on the 1990 Paramount film, the game has players joining the team of Rowdy Burns as NASCAR's latest rookie sensation. Races take place on re-creations of a dozen NASCAR tracks, including Daytona International and Talladega. Computer-controlled competition comes from in-game versions of real-life drivers such as Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, as well as from movie characters including Cole Trickle and Russ Wheeler. By driving well and placing high, players pick up sponsorships to fund future pit stops and upgrades. Top scores unlock new cars and options. In addition to the single-player campaign, up to 12 can compete in online multiplayer races. The game is available for download over the PlayStation Network, and also in a retail bundle that includes the movie on Blu-ray disc. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
