Okay, who broke the magic talisman protecting our world and keeping the demons of the underworld at bay? I knew I shouldn't have just left it sitting there. Now that it's busted into a dozen pieces and scattered about Monster Manor, a hideous horde of ghastly demons, specters, ghosts and other spooky beings have been released into Earth!
You there! Grab this electromagnetic pistol, haul your tail into that spooky estate and get us out of this mess! Venturing into the twelve areas of Monster Manor you're armed with your wits, your gun and your ability to scream like a frightened little schoolgirl.
While the latter will probably alert the inhabitants to your presence, the first two are all you need to protect yourself, in addition to the health icons and ammo you can find lying about. Of course, if you're in the mood to rack up points, there are coins and gems to collect as well, and most importantly, the keys you'll need to open the doors and gates to other rooms and areas.
From a first-person perspective, you'll explore a series of interconnected rooms and halls starting with the attic to the mansion itself, eventually making your way to the underground catacombs and beyond, while fending off the attacks of Grim Reapers, morphing, spewing and floating heads, knife-wielding ghouls, spiders and more. After battling your way through a level, zapping its inhabitants and nabbing the talisman piece, you must find the spirit portal leading to the next level with your sanity intact.
A menu allows you to keep tabs on your lives, energy, keys and pieces of talisman you possess, while the rear of your gun shows the amount of ammo you have left. You can choose to explore this house in "Play for Keeps" mode or get some practice in by selecting an individual practice level. High scores and progress may be saved to the 3DO Multiplayer's internal memory. ~ Geoffrey Douglas Smith, All Game Guide
