Fans of arcade-style classics and puzzle games will probably find at least a few selections to enjoy from the 70 available in Game Fanatic. One CD contains the arcade games, and the other contains the puzzlers. Install each one on your computer and then choose from a list of games which you'd like to play. You can read about each title and see a screenshot before deciding to download it into your Game Fanatic folder.
On the puzzle CD, choose from computerized versions of classics such as Reversi, Classic Peg Solitaire, and EG Chess. If you enjoy card games, check out the solitaire variants or Dragon Poker. There are also plenty of brain teasers, such as Knight's Quest, which uses the knight piece from a chess set and requires you to land on as many squares as possible before you run out of moves, and Hexmines, a variant on Microsoft's Minesweeper game.
Over on the arcade disc, there are plenty of games that will sound familiar to fans of classic shooters of yesteryear. Titles such as Alien Invaders, Moon Buggy, and Bustout 99 use Direct X technology to put a new spin on oldies but goodies like Space Invaders, Moon Patrol, and Breakout. There are also some original adventure RPGs, such as Arkane and Ascension, as well as goofy efforts like Backcountry Mayhem, in which you shoot at varmints hanging around a dilapidated old house.
Both CDs come with online documentation, links to the Expert Software website and the applications you'll need to get the most out of the package, such as Direct X, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Microsoft Internet Explorer. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
