Uh oh, seems like there is trouble in the Chamber of the Teensies. Faced with an invasion by the Robo Pirates of deep space, it is time for Rayman and his best friend Globox to fight off the invasion. While Rayman and Globox manage to hold off the invading aggressors with their powerful combination of energy spheres and rain storms for some time, things quickly become troublesome when the Primordial Core is destroyed leaving Rayman vulnerable and in shock.
Relishing the opportunity, Admiral Razorbeard's troops capture Rayman, leaving the Teensies without any hope of survival. "I have you Raymond! You'll soon be my most obedient slave," shrieks the Admiral as the Robo Pirates continue to tighten their grip upon our limbless hero.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape features a 3D landscape in the same mold as Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64. With free roaming 3D worlds, players begin in a locked cell with no apparent exit. Luckily your good friend Globox helps you break out, restoring your super hero powers allowing you to quickly trek back into more familiar territory. However, your problem has only just begun.
It is now up to you and your powers to clear out the intruders before Admiral Razorbeard adds your world's inhabitants to his slavery tents. Of course you are well equipped with powers that allow you to fire energy spheres, climb walls, swim, hover, and more. You will also be aided by many friends including the Teensies, Globox and his 650 children, Clark the human mountain of muscles, Murfy the flying encyclopedia who is always there when you need some help, Carmen the Whale, Ssssam the water-ski serpent, and even more.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape is set over 13 worlds with more than 45 sub-levels set through island locations such as jungle, glaciers, caves, volcanoes, etc. Each level requires you to not only get out of it alive but also uncover a certain number of fragmented objects called yellow lumz. Various other colored lumz can be found as well, each with their own functions. Green lumz is used as a temporary checkpoint save system, red lumz exist as health supplements, and blue lumz can be used to survive under water. There is also ancient lumz called super yellow lumz; they are recognized by their larger size and are actually worth five standard lumz. Last is silver lumz that can be uncovered for exciting new powers. ~ Brad Penniment, All Game Guide
