Often considered the origin of city simulation (and of simulation in general -- games like The Sims would probably not exist today) is Maxis's SimCity 2000. Players create their own city by strategically placing certain kinds of buildings, parks, and water. But that's not where the game ends, it is where it begins: players must manage the taxes of the city, attract more citizens, avoid natural disasters, compete with neighboring towns, and so much more. The other included game in the compilation, Streets of SimCity, allows players to import their towns from SimCity 2000 and experience them from a street-level perspective, while completing missions as one of four characters. ~ Jeremy Lee, All Game Guide
