Sky Kid is a plane shooter from the developers at Namco. Laid out in a side to side scrolling format, it's your job to fly missions in enemy territory. Your objectives are to pick up bombs, drop them on strategic targets, and eliminate as many enemy forces as you can. Enemies will attack from the air and from the ground. Enemy planes attack from both the front and the rear. Trucks and other ground enemies will be mobile or stationary. Both air and ground enemies will fire missiles at your plane.

During each mission, you are required to swoop down to the ground and pick up a large bomb. You must carry this bomb to the target revealed at the beginning of the level. Once there, you must drop it. If you hit the target's weakest point, it will sink into the ground and you will get a 10,000-point bonus. If you hit the target anywhere besides the weak point, you will get 500 points but no bonus. Controls in Sky Kid include two buttons and a joystick. The joystick moves the plane up, down, left, and right. One button fires your plane's missiles, and the other button causes your plane to do a backward loop. This maneuver can be used to get behind enemy planes. The loop button can also pull your plane out of a tailspin if it has been shot. Players begin the game with three airplanes. Two players can play simultaneously. ~ Anthony Baize, All Game Guide
