In Super Sidekicks 2, the player-selectable teams are divided by territory. There are six territories in all: Americas and Oceania, Europe A, Europe B, Asia, Africa and South America. Each geographical territory has eight teams to choose from, all rated on five attributes: kicking power, technique, defense, speed and attack. In total, this gives you 48 national teams to play, all with different attribute settings. After choosing your team, you can also choose which aspect of the team's performance to power up. You can power up the ace striker or goalie, go for speed, defense, attack or technique power-ups, or give the entire team a power-up.
While on offense, you can kick the ball forward or pass the ball in one of two ways. A low pass travels on the ground to your intended recipient, and can be intercepted by opposing defenders in between your passer and recipient. A high pass makes an arc through the air to get to your recipient player, allowing you to kick the ball over an opposing player's head at the expense of having the ball travel further than with a low pass. Alternatively, you can kick the ball forward, either as a goal attempt or to get it out of a tight spot. Defensively, you can slide tackle or shoulder ram opposing players to regain control of the ball, although performing a move too roughly will cause the referee to call a foul on your player.
Super Sidekicks 2 does not automatically place you in control of the defending player closest to the ball; instead you have to press the C button to manually switch to controlling the closest defender. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
