It's the year 2198 (Solar Year, that is) and you've got something to prove. As an Officer's Training Academy dropout, things looked bleak until General Tegel offered you a chance to clear your bad track record by serving as a Base Operations Squad Sergeant (B.O.S.S.). The diverse group of twenty commandos you lead are known as Tegel's Mercenaries and it's up to you to select the six best and brightest of these egotistical megalomaniacs for each strike mission the General orders you to accomplish. With a full arsenal of weapons at hand and the latest armor on the rack, it's your job to carry out a handful of missions in a world ruled and threatened by cutthroat corporations and their mercenary forces. If that isn't enough, there are even insectoid-like aliens on the horizon threatening the Consortium that is made up of several planetary and moon-based governments whose purpose is to deal with alien civilizations. Tegel's Mercenaries is a semi-realtime role playing/strategy war game in which you control every order and movement given to the mercenaries in your strike squad. Perspective is from a three-quarters viewpoint (actually a 5/6th view might be more accurate) and is played via a mouse oriented interface with keyboard hotkeys supported. ~ Michael L.
