Western Front: The Liberation of Europe 1944-45 focuses on the end of World War II and the struggle between the Allies and Adolph Hitler's war machine. The game is designed for two players, either both human or one against the computer. In this turn-based strategy/combat game, each hex is equivalent to ten miles in width and each turn emulates four days of realtime. You select either the Allied or Axis side in the confrontation and as the supreme commander have complete control over air and combat movement as well as war materiel production. In the main Overlord scenario, the map ranges from England to past Berlin (west to east) and Hamburg to Italy (north to south). As in other games in the SSI, Inc. wargame arsenal, Western Front: The Liberation of Europe 1944-45 employs a turn-based phase system with both sides maneuvering through seven distinct phases (Events, Supply, HQ Control, Replacement/Readiness, Recovery, General Orders, and Combat Resolution) per turn. ~ Michael L.
