Another week, another Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe reveal. This time thanks go out to Total Mortal Kombat, which got their hands (and watermark) all over a rendered photo of the “Sexy Villainess” Catwoman. While the picture itself is a little anatomically ridiculous (what’s up with the giraffe neck?), I think Catwoman is an interesting choice for a fighting game. She’s agile, got decent fighting skills, and has that whip for ranged attacks. This announcement leaves five more of the generic (read: lame) character descriptions to be unveiled. While “Amazon Queen” is obviously Wonder Woman, and “Crazy Villain” is more than likely Joker, I’m curious as to who the rest could be. They already announced Superman, so I’m wondering who else fits the “Prototypical Superhero” role. The “Mystical Superhero” could be Zatanna, but it could also be Dr. Fate, though I doubt the developers are reaching that far down for characters. The description that has me the most baffled is the “Military Superhero.” There’s not a ton of DC mainstays that would qualify, unless they’re thinking the Green Lantern Corps are a military force (which they’re not), thus making any of the many ring-slingers a possibility for the game. Come on Guy Gardner.

Some of you may be wondering why Catwoman is dressed the way she is, but I assure you that’s her most recent (and best) costume. Designed more than six years ago by Darwyn Cooke, the zip-up leather jumpsuit has been tightly wrapped around Selina Kyle for a while, though I’m glad they changed the color to 1990’s purple to make her stand out a bit more. Hopefully by E3, we’ll all have a better idea of who to expect in the game. Stay tuned to Gamervision for coverage, as we’ll be there live on the floor.
