EA Planning Super Bowl Spot

Website Industry Gamers has found that EA has made plans for a thirty-second commercial to air during the Super Bowl. Though it's still a mystery just what game this trailer will be promoting, EA is so certain this spot will catch enough people's attention, and thus translate to big sales, they're willing to dole out an estimated $2.5 million for the half-minute spot. I don't know about you, but if I was going to spend $2.5 million on something that only lasted thirty seconds, it'd have to involve a lot of monkeys, strippers, Jaeger, pyrotechnics, and chocolate syrup.

While it's likely the spot will feature February shipping title Dante's Inferno, I wouldn't be shocked if this commercial was for an entirely new property, or perhaps for EA Sports MMA. Dante's Inferno has already had an insane amount of marketing done on its behalf, but that doesn't mean EA's done promoting the title. The publisher has high hopes for the action-adventure game, and even though the demo didn't have me rushing out to my local retailer to reserve a copy, I'm still looking forward to playing the game eventually. Personally, I think it's in EA's best interest for this commercial to be for something new. It's awful tough to surprise people in the information age, and if they're able to sneak out a teaser of an upcoming property, like this mysterious new sports title they have in the works, it has the potential to create an insane amount of hype.

Typically, the Super Bowl is home to some of the best advertisements you'll see in a given year, but the high cost often leads to little reward from the consumers. We've only got a few more weeks to go until all is revealed, but I know I'll certainly be paying attention during the commercial breaks to see what all the fuss is about. I just hope the EA ad is able to compete with the next GoDaddy girl. Whoever she is.

I'd guess Dante's Inferno too, since EA has been marketing the shit out of that game.

The Developers of Dante's Inferno must have played the hell out of God of War, so much so that they used the exact recipe of game style and play but just changed the name and story.
