Even though we've all known about Fallout: New Vegas for what seems like months, there have been little to no details about the game since it's announcement. Today, Bethesda and Obsidian revealed the first details and trailer for the upcoming RPG, most important of which is that it will be arriving this fall. Yeah, I'm going to have to set aside like 150 hours of my life to play this.

The only other confirmed details at this point are that the game will be a single-player RPG, it'll be on the 360, PS3, and PC, and... well, that's still about all we know. After watching the trailer, which hints at some story aspects, it's clear that Bethesda and Obsidian are playing things pretty close to the vest. I love the idea of a giant mass graveyard surrounding the Vegas Strip, and that final shot of the lone soldier standing next to the California flag at least gives me hope that maybe we'll be able to cross over state lines in the game. Fallout 3 made great use of small portions of three different states, even though technically the District of Columbia isn't a state, and I'd love for New Vegas to be spread out across at least Nevada and California.

I put an insane amount of hours into Fallout 3 and all the subsequent DLC, and even though we don't know how this game will tie into the last one, if it does at all, I can't wait to revisit that world once more. Even though Obsidian is taking over the lion's share of developmental duties on this game, I've still got high hopes it's going to turn out awesome. I mean, all they really need to do is cut and paste the gameplay into a new setting, and I'll be completely happy. I expect to hear a lot more about this title in the coming months, and can't wait to see what's in store for me when I head out west.
