Natal Shipping in November?

Wait, Wasn't This Already Confirmed?

by 00.19

According to "sources," MCV is reporting that Natal will be shipping in November 2010, along with more than a dozen games at launch. Now I know that word around town was that Natal was going launch in the fall of 2010, but now apparently that window has been narrowed down to the start of the holiday rush. Big surprise for all I'm sure.

Those same sources claim the peripheral will launch with an $80 price point, which may actually be lowered to $50, should Microsoft decide to be reasonable when selling a web cam. With little to no interest in this product, I think that an $80 selling price is a bit ridiculous. Perhaps were it bundled with some sort of game, or better yet, games, I might change my story. The mere idea that they think this product should be more expensive than any other controlling peripheral, other than the wireless wheel, is absurd. It's just a freaking camera with a microphone people. What's the big deal?

I'll admit, I'm a little surprised they're waiting so long to launch after Sony's supposed spring release of their motion controller. I'm also surprised people are interested in this thing. I can't see the appeal of playing games without a controller in my hand, let alone expecting a camera to be intelligent enough to decipher the motions I'm making. It's a shame that the big companies are so worried about motion controls when they should be worried about making quality games first. Let's have a year where there are no shitty games, then you can make all the ridiculous controls you want.
