Roster Download Glitch in NCAA 09
It’s no secret NCAA sport videogames don’t have real names attached to the virtual players. There’s a unique market of man-made rosters out there for fans of the game who don’t have the time to sit down and type in all 2000 plus names for all 130 plus schools. Names like Fairdale Kings and PSXSports were synonymous with the crazed football-playing crowd. There was a time when you needed to download the rosters from their dedicated websites, or if you didn’t have high-speed internet, order a memory card with a roster file saved to it.
After years of seeing just how well these sites did, EA finally caved to the trend. This year was going to be the first year of EA Locker, an in-game roster file sharing service. This would allow fans to get the names without having to worry about strict NCAA guidelines. Finally, fans all over would get to play with the correct Toledo Mudhens roster. Or would they? Fairdale Kings himself found out what happens when you import a roster file into your NCAA game.
Wait one second. You’re telling me the minute I import a roster file, there’s a chance some teams may cease to exist all together? How exactly is this even possible? I could see the Wisconsin glitch he shows where the team is there but the attributes are all zeroes happening. But for a team that’s on the disc to suddenly vanish? You’re telling me no one at EA bothered to test out this new feature they were touting? Now all fans will have to wait for a patch from EA regardless of how early they got the game. Just when I thought EA was finally turning a corner, a huge setback like this occurs. Who was the guy sleeping at the wheel on this one?
