Bioshock Will Never Ever Ever Ever Ever…

Ever Ever Ever Come Out on the PS3

by Coop

2k Games has said time and time again that there will never be a PS3 version of Bioshock. Microsoft Game Studios helped them too much and they have no wishes to port it over to Sony’s console. Yet again it has been reaffirmed on 2k’s Official Forums as quoted below:

"There will be no PS3 version of BioShock. It has been explained time and time again."

This is more confirmation of what we already know, but it is interesting to see that they are still even commenting on this. Honestly, though, there are few PS3 owners.

Wait, I need to finish that sentence.

There are few PS3 owners who don’t own either a PC or a 360. The ones left most likely don’t care about Bioshock or else they would have plopped down the cash for a system. If the game so far hasn’t driven anyone to purchase a system for it then odds are they could care less about it.

I would like to see a sequel made instead of having 2K games spend a second porting the game to the PS3. It is ripe for one and odds are they would have learned from the few mistakes of the original.

Dude, your bias is mad crazy. Just because my main console is a PS3 doesn't mean I don't want to play Bioshock. Of course, I should just go spend $350 for a console when there are only 2 games I even care about on it. There are some rational people in this world who realize that one or two games is not a reason to buy a new console or to spend a ton of money upgrading their PC.

I don't see the supposed "Gamervision-PS3-bias" here at all. The news is the news: there won't be a PS3 version. Furthermore, it is also true that PS3 owners are in a minority when compared to PC and 360 owners.

I'm not talking about any supposed Gamervision PS3 bias, I'm talking about Coop. Coop seems to be a big 360 fanboy, and that's okay. I think the assumption that if you wanted the game you would just buy a different console is silly. Also, clearly it wouldn't be a waste of time for 2K if they been getting asked for this frequently enough to offer yet another reiteration of their position.

Nah, its more just that I think that if anyone REALLY wanted the game they would buy it for another system. Same goes for games like Halo - Halo fans would buy a 360.

But the thing is this, I would agree with Halo. But that's because if you really love Halo, you would know that 360 would be your only bet. A lot of people didn't know about Bioshock before buying their console and just don't have the dough to go the 2 console route. Only system I can see making that argument for for a game like this would be Wii, since it's so cheap.

Dude... there is not one freaking game in this world that I would buy a system for. That's the reason I've been putting off buying the PS3 for so long: the only game on it that looks even mildly appealing to me is Warhawk. And dropping close to $600 for one game is, to put it mildly, dumb.

I like Halo, but if it were the only 360 to interest me, I'd just play a friend's. Bias and fan-boy accusations aside, you have to admit SoulScreme, the PS3 title support has been a bit lacking.

Sean, I don't disagree. I think they've finally started to turn the corner on that in the past few months. But to say that if I want to play Bioshock I should buy a 360 is pretty ridiculous. I don't like any of the other exclusives on the console with the exception of Dead Rising.

It's all about profit. Porting the game for PS3 will not result in enough revenue. The result of subtracting the overhead costs for porting this game from the amount of money they would get from their estimates on units sold is not a happy enough number to justify the effort. Their time would be much more valuable working on a new game with that time.

It's all about the money. End of story.

SoulScreme, if you're a UI developer in the Philadelphia area (I am as well), then I'd assume you have a computer. Buy Bioshock for your computer. FPS games are better with a mouse anyway IMO.

Thats a shame, I would really have liked to play that one.
I guess Its time to upgrade my PC haha.

In a time of non-exclusivity, is it really so bad to see a game maintain its exclusivity on one system. (yes, i know, "but it's also on PC." But last I checked, you couldn't play this on a Mac. And your PC is probably running Microsoft OS. isn't it?)
