Conduit Sales Prove Wii Gamers Hate Hardcore Games

High-Voltage's The Conduit was seen by many as one of the more "hardcore" games on the system. You know, the kind that gamers complain about not getting enough of on the Wii. After a rigorous advertising campaign, months of hype by both Nintendo and Sega, and mostly positive reviews... the game's sales have been released. And it isn't good.
NPD reports that The Conduit debuted at number 25 for the month of June, selling just under 72k copies. It's above House of the Dead: Overkill and MadWorld's debut sales... but not by much. Selling under 100k isn't good news for a game hyped as much as The Conduit, especially when it has been hailed as the answer to gamer's ourcry for a shooter on the system.
There's still time, and Wii titles have proven to be slow burners, though I doubt those facts make the people at High-Voltage any happier to hear the news. We've sent over an e-mail and contacted them about the sales, and will update with their reply.

I think that blanket statement title is a little unfair to some of us, but this is still kind of sad news. I'd really like to see more M-rated titles sell well on the Wii and DS.

lets just face it, the majority of wii owners do not care about actual games, they want to do their wii fitt and their wii sports.

Well, it did only have about a week in June, but this is the type of game that pretty much has only initial sales to rely on. Here's hoping this game has strong legs, like Medal of Honor or Call of Duty. I want what's best for High Voltage Studios.
BTW Voyou, what's the problem with me wanting to do my Wii Fit and Sports? They're both good titles...

@Voyou: Come on, don't hate on Wii Sports. Maybe it isn't the deepest game, but it provides countless hours of party fun.
As to the Conduit's sales, what's the problem with hardcore games on the Wii?

The thing is the Wii is predominantly owned by younger gamers and families. Obviously not exclusively but come on, that's where the systems are. Everyone who likes FPSs and more mature titles bought themselves a 360 or a PS3 (or more than likely a PC).
It's a tough sell to change your install base. Especially with indie titles. If Kojima made the next Metal Gear for the Wii you can bet your ass it would sell well. But aside from that, mature titles will never get a foothold on the Wii. Sorry.

Things Hardcore gamers looks for in a FPS or any title are jaw dropping, eye candy graphics, good story, great and fun game play and mechanics, impressionable and rememberable characters, great soundtrack, good voice acting, and for the M, blood and gore. Also it's replay vale hold a big trump card if the game is worth it.

to each his own guys, my opinion is wii fit and wii sports are garbage.. great for little kids but not for me.
Just face it, the wii will never be for the hardcore, just like the gamecube was not. They have their bread and butter and they are sticking to it.
Madworld and Conduit deserve to sell better, but they are on the wrong system to do it.
