Diablo III Announced
It Isn’t Safe Here
by Coop
At Blizzard Entertainment's Worldwide Invitational in France, Blizzard has officially confirmed Diablo III, the highly anticipated sequel to their best selling hit Diablo II. From early looks, the sequel appears to be a godsend to players, as the developer has decided to have it maintain the feel and look of the previous games, while bumping the graphics up significantly to bring it to this generation.
There are some videos courtesy of Gametrailers above and below, but due to the extreme popularity you shouldn’t expect to have that easy of a time viewing them. In fact, you may have a hell of a time trying to get them to work. For that same reason, the Diablo III FAQ on Blizzard's website is down, currently feeling the wrath of millions of fanboys demanding to know information, but Joystiq has compiled a list of the most interested facts from the page as I have posted below:
- Return to Sanctuary, the same world as the previous 2 games. The game takes place 20 years after Diablo 2.
- There are 5 character classes in the game. We know two so far: a new Witch Doctor class, and a completely redone Barbarian class. Male and female options for all classes.
- Havok-powered physics
- Building on previous random environments, Blizzard promises "a host of new ways to create random scripted events throughout the game."
- Upgraded Battle.net
- Deckard Cain returns, but is noted as the "first victim" of the new horrors
- Plan is to release the game "simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages." The game will ship for Mac and Windows simultaneously.
They have not yet announced a release date for the game, and with Blizzards track record I wouldn't expect to be hacking and slashing my way through the game's beautiful environments anytime before 2009 or, more likely, 2010. Or 2011. Or 2012. Or...oh, well, you get the point.
If I have failed to mention anything important I apologize, it's sort of hard to type with my mouth foaming and eyes bleeding.
DIABLO III! DIABLO III! DIABLO III!

Meh..., ..
if there is one thing blizzard can't do is disappoint. to date, i've never been disappointed with a blizzard product [thanks to their willingness to delay, delay, and delay.]
I'm not a diablo gamer but this will be a huge hit for the PC of course. All I would hope for is that this game will port to the next gen consoles (PS3 and X360).

I'm glad the Barb is being redone. I hope whirlwind spam won't be our only option for pvp. All in all, It looks freaking fantastic. Also, does anyone else think the picture for the character classes section on the official site looks like a Pandaren? Possibly one of the new characters?
I think I may be getting a new PC just for this.
