Large Team Fortress 2 Updates Coming

Heavy Updates Ending in a Heavy Update

by Coop

Valve has sent out a press release teasing the next update to Team Fortress 2, which will be unveiled one day at a time for the next week on this website. They promise that this is the largest update to the game since it’s launch, and will include not only the “Heavy Update,” but new maps, new game modes, and a bunch of new achievements. They also plan on starting a new video series entitled “Meet the Team,” which they haven’t detailed as of yet.

Oh, and it's all out on Tuesday.

Today’s update is of a new map  entitled CP_STEEL, which was created by a Team Fortress 2 community member by the name of Jamie "Fishbus" Manson. Here is the full description:

A complex Attack/Defense control point map, with some unique gameplay. Unlike most TF2 maps, capturing a control point modifies the layout of the map, opening and closing routes for each team. As a result, the offensive team has a wide variety of tactical choices around how they'd like to assault the final point.

Should they use Scouts and Soldiers to rush the final point with only the routes they start with? Should they go for the side control points and open up more routes to the final? Should they capture extra points to shut down the defender's routes? The many choices keep the map interesting for a long time, providing a wide variety of experiences in a game.

Gamervision will be sure to bring all of Valve’s updates to you as they happen, so stay tuned to Gamervision to hear all about Team Fortress 2’s exciting changes.

A new game mode? I'm intrigued. I really wish they would just ditch the achievement grind, though (thankfully you only need to get a fraction of them now).
