Alright, maybe this will be enough to stop the riots. The biggest complaints about Left 4 Dead 2 have been over the lack of upgrades, right? Well, look no further than the above image, showing one of the new melee weapons: the cricket bat. This proves, above all else, that the game can't take place in New Orleans (or anywhere else n America, for that matter). I mean, where the hell would someone get a limey weapon like that in the U.S.A.?

All kidding aside, it's good to see Valve's sense of humor is as good as it has ever been. They apparently love Shaun of the Dead as much as I do. I'd be shocked if this was the only pop-culture reference in the game, and am excited to see what else they're able to pull in. Maybe some Resident Evil or Dead Rising references, perhaps? A mannequin body? Ink ribbon? I'm sure they'll think of something.

The strangest aspect of the story is the actual image itself. Look closely... the player looks modeled fully, the trees look in-game, but there's no way the helmet or zombie's shirt are actually from Left 4 Dead 2. It's not that they look too good, just they just look painted, popping out of the environment. Unless Valve's trying to go Street Fighter 4 on us I'm not sure what the goal of the image was. Then again, I'm definitely down for some helmet-wearing zombies in L4D2...
