Thought there wasn't any Star Wars left to LEGO? Think again. Today, LucasArts and Travelers Tales announced development on LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, bringing the recent television series to the LEGO universe. Beyond additional story, the press release promises new battle modes, and head-to-head combat. The level creator from the last LEGO title returns, promising to be expanded to allow players to craft massive battlefields. As far as story, the game will allow players to play either as a Jedi or Separatist, each sporting new character abilities, such as "Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups." If that wasn't enough (and odds are it wasn't), it's topped off with a new, easy-to-navigate hub.

The press release is below. With the popularity of both the LEGO Star Wars series and Clone Wars, I wouldn't be surprised to see this game sell crazy high. Maybe this time they'll actually add cooperative play, since they're running out of excuses as to why it doesn't have it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to freak out about how excited I am for LEGO Harry Potter. EEEEEE!
