More Details on Aliens: Colonial Marines
Bloody Fantastic News

Gearbox, who is developing the upcoming re-imagination of the Alien franchise, has announced some more fantastic news about Aliens: Colonial Marines. Every detail about the title has been stellar thus far, and the new information gets me even more excited.
While not implemented as of yet, the game will include acidic blood that will spill from Alien’s bodies. This will serve cosmetic purposes, burning the ground or walls around as it splashes, as well as damaging the player if they get too close. This hasn’t been done to well in Alien games up to now, so the fact that they plan on putting it in and doing it right gets me really, really excited.
Most of the combat will take place indoors, with cramped, spooky environments. However, other times players will find themselves outside with less restrictions. This should help cut up the monotony that becomes of many “scary” games that refuse to ever let the player see the light of day (or dark of night). Other times, players will have to defend a point with turrets and barricades, to make a stand against the Alien hordes.

As announced before, the game will include co-operative play. Players will be able to drop-in to games and continue campaigns with friends mid-level either online, split-screen, or with a system link.
Oh, and there will also be quick-time events like God of War and Resident Evil 4. I'm not sure if this is good or bad news. On the bright side, they will have their own way of doing it instead of showing big buttons flashing, but these are really easy to screw up for developers.
I am extremely excited for this title. Gearbox is a fantastic developer who is known for having great AI and good co-operative play. I can’t wait for some more information and maybe even footage of this title, due out later in the year.
