Plants vs. Zombies Shambling to iPhone in January

Cue the Great Depression 2

by Coop

We've made it clear that our love for PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies is deep. Seriously, it was a runner-up for Best Strategy Game Ever for 2009, and we only gave out a few of those. Needless to say, the prospect of ignoring work for an iPhone port of the plant defense game is one that is quite appealing to us, and the lack of news about it has been troubling. It's not that we've doubted the port, it's just that, well, we're sort of on a hunger strike until it's released. It's a long story, but just know that we really want the game to be released for the iPhone. Luckily, it looks like the wait is nearly over.

When asked about the status of Plants vs. Zombies iPhone port, the official PopCap Facebook page replied "Look out for PvZ iPhone late 01/10." A little blunt, sure, but it's not like that's a bad thing. Hell, with the way companies like stretching announcements I'm shocked there aren't countdowns to teaser sites being launched to fuel a viral ad campaign about feeding plants. The last thing we need is people taking Plants vs. Zombies too seriously, right? That would be lunacy! Sheer lunacy.

Still no word on enhanced features of additional levels, but we're expecting a pretty standard port, and that's really good enough. PopCap has a perfect record with their iPhone ports, and hopefully that streak continues until our batters run dry, and we're hooking on the street corners for chargers.
