In what might be the strangest pre-order deal in a good long while, Warhammer fans who reserve EA's RTS, Red Alert 3, will receive "Korssar's Helm," an in-game item in Warhammer Online that allows you to transform into, that's right, a bear. I guess this is because of the whole "Russian Bear" thing, but that still seems a little silly. This sets a strange standard and I don't know if I like it.

See, I'm all for giving special gifts to people who pre-order stuff, and even people who pay more for stuff (by way of a special edition). But giving special rewards for buying OTHER things that have nothing to do with the game? That might be a little much. I'm fine with it here, because it's a good game and the bonus helmet is wacky, but what if this were assigned to something awful looking and was a powerful weapon? Reserving EA's Playground 2 shouldn't give you a tetherball of smiting in Warhammer. Well, at least it doesn't make them pick up the full version.

So, what do you think? I mean, the helmet sounds mad cool, but seriously? For a second game?
