Rumor: Lucasarts's Indiana Jones Cancelled?

No time for love, Dr. Jones!

by Coop

The euphoria powered, next-generation Indiana Jones game (tentatively titles Indiana Jones 2007, giggle giggle) might have finally been put out of its misery according to IGN sources, who say the game has been swept away, with its development team's efforts reallocated to other projects. After its initial announcement in 2006 there has been little information on the title, which was due out a good long while ago.

Lucasarts has given two different replies on the matter, both denying the cancellation to Joystiq and refusing to comment to IGN, so there's no say if it's true or not. With the economy in the state its in, the less-than-stellar reception of the recent Indiana Jones movie (along with the game's inability to launch alongside it), and the lack of any new announcements on the game's status from the developer, I'd say there's a good chance this rumor is closer to fact than anyone wants to admit. We'll be sure to follow this story, but hopefully the reallocation was moving them from this game and onto a DS port of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Fingers crossed.

I forgot this game existed, it's been in development so long. Give me Atlantis and I'll get over it.

While the SCUMM games would work on well on DS and Wii, I'd like to see them on XBOX Live. As long as the cursor doesn't needlessly slow down with the analog stick it'd be great.

I'm with you, Darth--I'll take them anywhere. And the Indy ones stand out as having different ways to play and more replay value than some of the other SCUMM games, so I'd definitely buy them again.
